PHIT's Fall 2009 Auditions

Unlike our Spring 2008 auditions where we cast three Resident Groups that have become a permanent part of PHIT this time we will be auditioning for replacement cast members to join pre-existing groups (Activity Book and Fletcher). You are free to audition for just one of the groups, or to audition for both. Hopefully the proven track record of these groups, as well as their clearly established schedules will encourage people who were concerned about getting involved in a long-term project to come on out an join us.

When and where are auditions being held?
Date: Sunday, November 8th
Place: The Shubin Theatre, 407 Bainbridge Street, Philly, PA 19104
Time: noon-3pm

Callbacks: during the rehearsal time for each respective group in the following week.

How do I get an audition?
In order to audition you must email PHIT and request and an audition. Please include your name, email address, and telephone number in your message. You will receive a response with an assigned audition time. Auditions are open to anyone - including those who are currently working with PHIT or have worked with PHIT in the past. Everyone who is interested in being cast in either of the projects below must attend auditions, we are not casting anyone in advance and we are not casting anyone who cannot make the auditions..

What are these two Resident Groups?
Fletcher

Fletcher is a resident group of the Philly Improv Theater who have performed to packed houses all over Philadelphia, as well as in Baltimore and New York. They have appeared at the prestigious Del Close Improv Marathon and been positively reviewed by the Philadelphia City Paper. They are directed by Scott Sheppard (formerly of Illegal Refill).

Activity Book
Regular Weekly Rehearsal - Wednesdays, 7:30-9:30pm

Activity Book are an original resident group of the Philly Improv Theater who have performed to sold out crowd at the Baltimore Improv Group, UCB Theatre (as part of the Del Close Marathon), and headlined LeHigh University's first ever College Comedy Festival. They are directed by Rick Horner (founding producer of the Philadelphia Improv Festival and founding member of the Improv Incubator).

I haven't improvised in a while/taken a class/done anything with PHIT, can I still audition?
Of course you can! We are looking for the most talented casts we can assemble, and just because you haven't done something in a while or with us specifically does not mean you aren't talented. Seriously, we'll take anyone who fits either of the projects. If you're feeling rusty or are worried we don't know you at all, might we suggest taking one of our workshops on November 7th? These are the day before the audition and might help your improv muscles get a workout if you're nervous. Workshop info/registration is here.

What if I still have questions?
Send them to us by replying to this email! (Get our email address from the contact page of the site).
