Instructors

PHIT believes we have the best improv teachers in Philly. Our staff of instructors has a diverse set of backgrounds, perform regularly in the city and around the country, and love showing new people how to improvise. The combined experience of our resident staff is over 75 years.

In addition, the theater is committed to bringing the best improv instructors from across the world to Philadelphia, as we do almost monthly for our workshops, and weekend-intensive master classes. These special workshops are open to various levels of experience: sometimes we welcome absolute beginners, and at other times they are restricted to past students only. Through this program we have brought notables such as author of Impro Keith Johnstone (one of the elderstatesmen of improv), Second City instructors like Mark Sutton and Joe Bill, and former Saturday Night Live writer Ali Farahnakian.
